Karoo Food Festival - Cradock

Date: 21st March 2013 to 23rd March 2013

Karoo Food Festival CradockThe Karoo Food Festival in Cradock is for anyone who loves cooking, eating and the Karoo.

The aim of the Festival is to turn the Karoo into a culinary destination, increase an awareness of the Karoo and local produce such as "Karoo Lamb".

It should also encourage and inspire locals and visitors to celebrate our local South African food and cultures and boost the local economy in general.

The Festival works in conjunction with "Slow Food Karoo", which helps protect culinary traditions, by encouraging the enjoyment of good food and wine and in general the joy of food, but especially local food that is responsibly produced at a fair price for consumer and consumer.

Slow Food Karoo

At the Festival one can expect “Authentic Karoo food” what exactly it is, is difficult to pinpoint, so as a starting point we’ll just use a broader definition and define KAROO FOOD as "that what is produced in the Karoo, which is beautifully packaged and presented".

By day expect:

  • Food exhibitors with AUTHENTIC products that came from all over the Karoo
  • Cooking and baking demonstrations
  • Township cooking
  • Cooking competitions and;
  • Farm lunches
  • Children’s competitions and Children’s programmes

By night expect:

  • Intimate fine food and wine experiences
