Montagu Pass restrictions

The Montagu Pass is no longer freely open to traffic and restrictions are in force.  This situation may continue into October.

Permits are required to use the pass and will be issued primarily to local residents that need daily access to the pass.

Permits can be obtained at any time from the Eden Municipal Disaster Management Centre (MDMC) at 54 York Street in George or from Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 16:00 at the Agri Klein Karoo Offices in Voortrekker Street, Oudtshoorn and daily at the Herold SAPS from 07:00 to18:00.

Until restrictions are lifted daily guided one-way traffic will be allowed across the pass at the following hourly intervals:

06:00: Depart from Herold to George
07:00: Depart from George to Herold
08:00: Depart from Herold to George
09:00: Depart from George to Herold
10:00: Depart from Herold to George
11:00: Depart from George to Herold
12:00: Depart from Herold to George
13:00: Depart from George to Herold
14:00: Depart from Herold to George
15:00: Depart from George to Herold
16:00: Depart from Herold to George
17:00: Depart from George to Herold
18:00: Depart from Herold to George
18:00-06:00: Only local residents allowed to travel across the pass without any guidance.

All access to the pass is at the driver's own risk.
