It's not often that one gets the opportunity to luxuriate in the tranquility of the Karoo countryside knowing that the town centre of Graaff-Reinet is a brief 5 minute drive away.

Liesl and Stephen de la Harpe created Camdeboo Manor so that you can experience this calmness and serenity to the fullest.  From the moment you drive through the gates a sense of well-being washes over you and the warm welcome makes you feel as if you belong.

“...My hostess shows me to my room, and I find it quite spacious and well-appointed. Particularly appealing is the four-poster, canopied bed: it is “high, wide and handsome”, and extra long (a “super”, king-size mattress that I didn’t even know was manufactured), which I believe was imported from the ancient spice island of Zanzibar! I see that I have plenty of home-made rusks and coffee/tea well-displayed on a side table. The walls are decorated with interesting framed maps, and all the furnishings are of impeccable taste and quality…”

“….The bathroom is roomy, and fitted with a gleaming, old fashioned high-backed bathtub ….. What a civilised tub! You get a deep bath, plus you can lean back without bending your neck 90 degrees. The guest amenities are all locally made by Karoo Lavender, and are certainly of the highest quality. The body lotion soaks into my skin, which has been parched by the dry Karoo air…..”
