On the R62 between Oudtshoorn and Calitzdorp, stands a fine Edwardian sandstone church apparently in the middle of nowhere. This is the hamlet of de Hoop. Here the former parsonage is a wonderful guest house which offers both B&B (3 star) and self catering accommodation (4 star).
Finished in 1909 along with the church, both built by Scots stonemasons, the parsongae has been faithfully restored and beautifully furnished with antique European and Agrican yellowwood and stinkwood pieces and decorated with the work of South African artists.
Although de Hoop has almost ceased to exist as a community, this historical parsonage sails grandly on as one of the architectural gems of the Klein Karoo.
Die Ou Pastorie offers you taste, luxury and comfort where you might least have expected to find it. Browse our gallery and see for yourself.
As very nice extras, you will also find fireplaces in the public rooms, an art gallery containing works by South African artists including Ilse, one of the owners, a car rental service which can be requested and even a doctor on call should one ever be needed.
