Karoo Lodge is one of three accommodation lodges situated on the 70,000 acre Samara Private Game Reserve at the foot of the Sneeuberg Mountains not far from Graaff-Reinet.
A gracious and spacious building dating from the colonial era, it is surrounded by a natural amphitheatre of surrounding mountains.
Offering both luxury and tranquillity, there is time to relax and allow the Karoo to work its magic on you. You can relax in your suite and let our experienced therapist ease your stress away with her aromatic oils and charm.
The accommodation at Karoo Lodge consists of five suites in the main lodge itself, the original homestead, three cottages and two rooms in the grounds. The suites in the lodge are spacious, light and airy and open onto the wide old-style veranda. Each suite is air-conditioned and has a luxurious en-suite bathroom.
The garden rooms are two delightful rooms, each with an en-suite shower and sharing a wooden deck overlooking the waterhole with abundant birdlife. They are both air-conditioned.
The cottage suites are even larger than those in the main lodge and have fireplaces as well as air-conditioning. Each suite has the choice of a luxury en-suite bathroom or an open air shower with splendid views of the mountains.
The decor of Karoo Lodge mingles the elegance and luxury of the colonial era with the untamed beauty of the African bush. Together with the exceptional service you will find a sense of fulfilment.
Gracious service is very much a hallmark of Samara while cuisine ranges from gourmet experiences in the dining room to picnic-style feasts in the bush or on the mountain top plateau.
